The Northern California Enamel Guild’s (NCEG) international juried exhibition will be hosted by Lireille - Gallery of Contemporary Jewelry and Art in Oakland from September 6 to October 16, 2010. The exhibition brings together enamel artists who celebrate innovation and tradition in the art of contemporary enameling. The exhibition features 62 works of art, which include jewelry, 3-D objects, and wall pieces, from 40 enamelists from all over the world including Chile, France, Venezuela, Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States. The jurors were Marianne Hunter, enamelist, Ana Lopez, Assistant Professor of Metalsmithing and Jewelry at the University of North Texas, and Gretchen Keyworth, Director Emeritus and Chief Curator of the Fuller Craft Museum. Eight awards will be presented at the exhibition opening on October 1, 2010.

In conjunction with the exhibition, the NCEG will host a lecture given by Ana Lopez, on the exhibition and contemporary enamel. This lecture will be open to the public and will take place on October 1 at 6:00 PM in Nahl Hall at the California College of the Arts, Oakland campus. The lecture will be followed by an opening reception at Lireille Gallery from 7:00-9:00 pm. The NCEG is a volunteer organization founded in 1974 to provide encouragement, information, instruction, fellowship, and inspiration to enamelists and others interested in the art of enameling. In addition to sponsoring biennial enamel exhibitions, the guild provides a bi-monthly newsletter; sponsors workshops, educational meetings, and marketing opportunities for the public; maintains an up-to-date website (www.enamelguild.org), and slide and print libraries.
Lireille - Gallery of Contemporary Jewelry and Art, located on Piedmont Avenue in an upscale shopping area of Oakland, is dedicated to promote art jewelry awareness and availability to the general public and push the creativity boundaries in art jewelry. The gallery is a museum-style gallery that carries contemporary art jewelry and fine arts from emerging and nationally acclaimed artists.
