"Texican Neo-Tribalismo" by Bernardo Cantu (MFA) opened August 7

Bernardo Cantu (MFA, Drawing & Painting) has a new exhibition at the Eclectic Expressions gallery (201 E. Sanford, Arlington TX 76011) titled Texican Neo-Tribalismo. The opening reception was held on August 7, and unless you visited his MFA thesis exhibit at UNT in May 2010, you've never seen anything like this.

Cantu's full artist statement is available at the Eclectic Expressions gallery website but in reference to this exhibition, Cantu says:

"...sculptural painting abstractions reference non-existent models rather than realistic situations. They are inspired by various disparate elements, some of which are: the strong interchanges between Texan and Mexican cultures; the multi-dimensional mysterious nature of reality; and barbacoa tacos."
